I am really glad you’ve accepted my interview. Thank you so much for taking the time to answer my questions.
Can you tell us a bit more about how you became a writer?
It really started from being a big reader when I was a kid. I continued reading into adulthood, and then writing became a natural extension of that. I would say it really took off when I got my first computer!
Was it difficult for the first book to find a publisher?
No, I was definitely lucky. I belong to a writer’s group, and someone in the group sent my manuscript to a friend of hers. He went to school with someone who became an agent in NY. That agent then referred me to Barbara Poelle, who is now my agent. She told My Lovely Wife in a week.
Could you describe literature in three words?
Transformative, engaging, enlightening
Is there a book you would never read? Why?
There isn’t one I know of off the top of my head, but I wouldn’t read something that is blatantly derogatory towards women.
What’s your favorite book?
Rebecca by Daphne De Maurier
Never, never, never give up – Winston Churchill
EBooks or paper print?
Both! I use ebooks when I’m traveling, print books when I’m at home.
What inspires you?
Great storytelling. It can be found in lots of mediums – novels, movies, TV, podcasts, comic books. I am fascinating by the way stories are told and try to figure out what makes some so good.
Imagine you were given the opportunity to meet a book character in real life. Who would that be? Please explain.
Oh wow, this is a great question! I would say…Lolita from the Nabakov book of the same name. When anyone talks about that book, they always talk about the narrator, Humbert Humbert. Never the girl. I’d like to meet her and give her a voice on the situation.
What’s your worst nightmare?
The dark. I’m really scared of the dark! I can’t be in a pitch black room by myself.
The best decision of your life was?
To start writing! I really do love it. I did it for many years before getting published simply because I loved it. Being published has been an amazing bonus!
I can’t wait to read your next book. Are you currently working on a project? Is there any release date to reveal?
My next book is called He Started It and it will be released this year. April 28 in the US and April 30 in the UK.
